AIKEN WELCH HISTORY

Aiken & Welch, Inc. was incorporated in 1982 with Richard Aiken and Rita Welch as principals. Rick’s past professional experience included a partnership in the deposition firm of Aiken & Cistaro and employment as a hearing reporter with the Public Utilities Commission. Rita’s professional experience included deposition reporting and transcribing. After incorporation, the company steadily grew from 10 reporters to over 30 reporters plus overflow.

In late 2006, Renee Bush and Kelly Roemer, staff reporters with Aiken & Welch, were brought in as managers with the option to purchase as Rick Aiken and Rita Welch-Ferreyra pursued the idea of retirement. In 2008, Renee and Kelly acquired a minority share of the company, and in December of 2013 became the sole owners of Aiken & Welch, Inc.

In the early ‘80s, Aiken & Welch, Inc. became the first reporting agency in the East Bay to use computer-aided transcription, installing two large main-frame computers. As technology changed, we changed. Today, our goal is to always remain on the forefront of technology in our profession.
